We have put together some activities for children & adults to do together so everyone can have fun the Mexican way.
To get in the spirit of your Mexican celebration, let the children make serapes (Mexican blankets) to wear over their shoulders.
You can use butchers paper or any other large piece of paper (approximately 40cm wide) and is long enough to hang over the front & back of the child. After designing, painting, colouring, or pasting with scrap materials the serape cut the fringe on the bottom edges. You could also make these out of old white sheets.

Use two small paper plates that have been decorated. Fill with beans, seeds, beads, pebbles etc.
Staple the 2 plates together.
Alternatively you can use an empty plastic bottle, fill with beans, seeds, beads, pebbles etc and screw the lid back on, after you decorate the bottle it can be shaken to make lots of fiesta sounds.
Give each child 3-5 different coloured squares of tissue paper and have them place them one on top of another. Show the children how to fold them in a fan folded shape and then wrap a twist tie around the middle of the fan folded paper. Have each child carefully open the flower by pulling the different colours of paper upwards or downwards to separate each layer.
